The colors of the Mexican Baja are sharp and true; the aquamarine of the ocean, the bright blue of the sky, the sienna of the landscape and the riot of the colors of the desert flowers and the buildings in towns – happy sunflower yellow, warm rose red, deep cactus green. The towns here range from small villages by the sea to the larger resort areas of Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo. The last two, known together as Los Cabos, have distinct town centers with excellent restaurants, lively bars and good shopping, and outlaying areas with seafront resorts ranging from modest to opulent.
 
Mexico DolphinYou can enjoy Baja just by lounging by the sea and taking in the rays, but then you will miss most of what it has to offer. Apart from the fascinating landscape of the desert, the wealth of the nature is in the ocean.  The famous Socorro Islands in the Revillagigedo Archipelago is a destination you will not forget. Most of the giant mantas of the world are aloof and downright moody but here they are curious and interactive. Dolphins are common and sometimes very friendly. You can expect many different species of sharks including the silky, Galapagos, hammerhead and many reef sharks. The occasional tiger shark glides by and humpback whales in great numbers are spotted between January and April. The best season for a liveaboard trip is between November and April. From early spring to late fall, kayaking trips around Baja’s rich waters are great fun for the whole family.
