Mozambique

Mozambique is a southern African nation whose long stretch of Indian Ocean coastline is dotted with popular beaches, like Tofo, as well as pristine offshore marine parks. This enigmatic southeast African country is well off most travelers' maps, but it has much to offer those who venture here. Mozambique offers the intrepid traveler long, dune-fringed beaches and warm turquoise waters abounding with shoals of colorful fish. Divers and snorkelers can explore the well-preserved corals and remote archipelagos in the north. From October to March, thanks to a never-ending supply of plankton, a large concentration of whale sharks converge off Tofo, 370 miles north of the capital, Maputo. The Bazaruto Archipelago farther south has reefs which protect rare marine life including dugongs and feature the best diving and beaches Mozambique has to offer. In the Quirimbas Archipelago, there’s a 220 mile stretch of coral islands including mangrove-covered Ibo Island with its colonial-era ruins surviving from a period of Portuguese rule.

Mozambique beckons with its coastline and swaying palms, its traditions, its cultures, its vibe and, most of all, its opportunities for adventure. Discover Mozambique’s colonial-style architecture, pulsating nightlife, fascinating cultural mix and vast tracks of bush populated with elephants, lions and birds galore. Discovering these attractions is not always easy, but it is unfailingly rewarding and we can make that happen for you.
