Villas

Each 100-square-meter villa at Zawadi Hotel is thoughtfully designed with a spacious en-suite bathroom and an expansive terrace offering breathtaking, uninterrupted views of the Indian Ocean. Located on Zanzibar’s coveted southeast coast, the resort’s unique cliffside position provides a secluded beach experience, where a pristine sandy cove and crystal-clear waters invite relaxation.

There are twelve private 100sq meter spacious villas, with en-suite bathroom (with bath and shower) directly overlooking the ocean. The villas have a large spacious private terrace, surrounded by flowering bougainvillea and palm trees with vistas of the Indian Ocean. The villas have a seating area, huge double beds with luxurious memory foam mattresses, closet area, large bathroom with walk in shower, free standing bathtub, double sink vanity and private plunge pools facing the Indian Ocean.

Dhow Sailing

The ultimate day of Zanzibari pleasure – board our beautiful Swahili dhow and take off for a gentle sail down the spectacular coastline and into the mangrove swamps that are so characteristic of the island. Serene yet alive with birds, the mangroves are a source of food and timber for the traditional Swahili homes. Whilst you’re there, you will also be invited to emulate the locals and carry out some traditional hand-line fishing. Back at the hotel, you can also discuss with Chef just how you’d like the fish to be presented for your dinner. Our guides, meanwhile, will be pleased to impart their knowledge on the marine and wildlife of these special wilderness places. Ecologically sensitive, our boats do not anchor on the reef but, rather, drift with the tide.

Farm Fun

Shamba means farm in Swahili. In Swahili culture, every home has a little shamba where vegetables, fruits and animals are kept to sustain the family. Zawadi, in keeping with our goal of being a sustainable and Eco friendly property, are following the same path. Here we have chickens, ducks, goats, sheeps, cows, donkeys and an organic garden supplying spices, vegetables and eggs for our guests. All kitchen leftovers and scraps are given to the animals who in turn provide us with a naturally composted fertilizer for the soil to grow our vegetables and fruits. We are proud of our efforts to create a sustainably run business where everyone benefits which in turn preserves the beautiful environment of Zanzibar.
