The world's best critter diving location has a splendid new boutique dive resort that you're going to love, Spice Island Divers. Perfectly situated in Ambon Bay and near the famous "Twilight Zone" dive site, this tasteful resort was crafted with divers in mind who are into camaraderie and comfort. Choose from stylish seafront villas or garden rooms and spend your days discovering delightful critters with your dive guide. The resort has an open air seaside dining area which serves up a delicious Indonesian focused menu. Taking advantage of seasonal local produce, sustainably caught fish and spices from the neighboring islands, the chef creates a tasty array of dishes. Fresh baked goods are prepared daily at the coffee bar to keep you going.The Spice bar is a splendid place to gather at the end of the day to share dive tales.

Each of the 10 individual bungalows is over 60 square meters, with private bathroom, hot water, air-conditioning and balcony and a large covered private wooden terrace. The beds can be configured to be King or twin and the custom made furniture ensure a comfortable and peaceful environment for rest and recuperation after long and interesting dives.

Designed to feature aspects of traditional Maluku architectural history, the bungalows embrace the personality of Ambon. The resulting resort is a fusion of design and comfort, apparent throughout the cool, bright and airy water front bungalows, each with uninterrupted views to the ocean.

The Diving

The Spice Island Dive Resort is equipped with everything an underwater photographer needs. There is a camera room with plenty of space for preparing, cleaning and loading the cameras. In addition, there are separate freshwater pools for cleaning after the dives. Special bags are available for transporting the cameras.

The diving groups are limited to a maximum of 4 divers per dive guide, smaller groups or 1-1 is possible on request. There are 3 dives a day by boat and an additional night dive. Nitrox is available at an additional cost.

Without a doubt, Ambon offers some of the best of the best Critter, Muck or Macro diving on the planet. Not only are there creatures that are only found here like the unique and exotic "Ambon Frogfish," but Ambon also has maybe the highest concentration of critters found anywhere. Perhaps the best part, however, would have to be that you can have all the critters you like but without all the crowds of other divers.

While Ambon does have the world's most unique and rare critters,  there are also some beautiful reefs and a fantastic wreck to balance out your dive adventure.
