Oceania
Oceania is a very recent addition to the Walindi/Febrina family! Oceania is freshly refitted and has launched to cruise Rabaul to South Coast New Britain, Walindi to Kimbe Bay and Father’s Reef and Walindi to Witu Islands!
MV Oceania is a 27 meter catamaran and taking maximum 16 passengers. Cabins will be above decks, all ensuite and individually air-conditioned. Currently configurations are proposed as 3 double, 4 twins (two beds) and two smaller singles. She's got a fresh new look and is completely refitted to cater to the modern diver.
Cabins on board are a mix of Queen and Twin Share, all featuring ensuite bathrooms and plenty of storage space for your personal items. Windows with sea views line the walls on both the main cabin deck and the saloon deck, which means plenty of natural light during the day and a great view if you elect to stay indoors out of the sun.
The saloon area features a large, comfortable couch area to read, edit images, converse or just kick back with a beverage. There are plenty of international plug style outlets so your devices are within reach while they charge. Juices, tea, coffee and water can be accessed all day at the bar area in front of the galley. Soft drinks, mixers and beers are also available all day at the bar area where an honesty tab records your consumption for billing at the end of your trip. Buffet meals are also served from the bar area, except for dinner which is a la carte.
Outside you will find a smaller lower sun deck with couches and arm chairs, and a larger upper sun deck with a large table and seating. Even on a full boat its easy to find your own space outside to relax, day or night.
Diving is made easy with staff on hand to assist with dive gear both entering and exiting the water. A water level duck board at the back of the boat means entry and exit is a breeze. A purpose fitted tender is also used during some dives. Underwater, find a world of untouched beauty and incredibly biodiversity.
KIMBE BAY
Kimbe Bay is home to stunning reefs with those brilliant coral formations you see in all the classic Walindi pictures. Beautiful and dramatic sea mounts, coral laden walls and lush coral gardens are all a feature of Kimbe Bay diving, along with myriad fish and invertebrate life the reefs sustain.
WITU ISLANDS
Witu Islands are situated to the North West of Kimbe Bay and this area is visited by MV Oceania at selected times during the year. A cross section of diving includes sea mounts and black sand bays around the islands, so this area provides a perfect mix of both pelagic activity and critters.
FATHERS REEFS
Fathers are series of off shore reefs, volcanic in origin. The underwater topography is startlingly different with dramatic reefscapes, arches and swim throughs. Being offshore, these reefs also attract pelagic activity such as sharks, rays, turtles, schools of barracuda, jacks etc.
RABAUL
Rabaul is known topside for WWII history – but what really makes Rabaul shine is the areas jetty dives. Macro lovers will delight at the sandy bottom dives featuring a myriad of different species of frogfish, harlequin ghost pipefish, bumblebee shrimp, harlequin shrimp, mandarin fish, coconut octopus, boxer crabs, leaf scorpion fish and nudibranchs - just to name a few.
