Musekese Camp

With just six guest rooms and a team of highly experienced guides, life at Musekese Camp moves at your own pace and according to your interests. The rooms are spacious and thoughtfully designed, each with en-suite flushing toilets and on-demand hot and cold showers. Powered entirely by a well-configured solar system, the camp runs smoothly and sustainably — with ample energy to keep your devices charged and your drinks perfectly chilled, day and night.

What truly sets Musekese apart, however, is its setting. Before 2012, no tourist had ever set foot in this remote and wildlife-rich corner of Kafue National Park. Through years of dedication and conservation work by Phil, Ty, and their team, the area has become a thriving haven — still wonderfully exclusive and among the most unspoiled tracts of African wilderness you can find. Musekese Camp blends comfort, simplicity, and sustainability. With only five newly built guest rooms, the camp maintains an intimate and tranquil atmosphere.

Each room provides essential comforts, including an ensuite bathroom, flushing toilet, and on-demand hot shower. Guests enjoy modern conveniences while staying fully connected to the wilderness.

The camp runs entirely on solar power, reflecting its strong commitment to sustainability. The main area provides ample stored energy to keep devices charged and drinks perfectly chilled.

The layout of the camp complements the surrounding landscape. From private verandas, guests admire sweeping views of the Kafue River, often watching wildlife pass quietly below. Every detail — from design to location — ensures an authentic yet comfortable safari experience.

The wildlife viewing in and around Musekese is exceptional. Game numbers and the quality of sightings have improved year upon year thanks to increased protection and concerted habituation by Phil, Tyrone and the team. All the major predators are present, with leopard and lion very well represented. Elephant herds are always visible in the dry season months and the plains game is as numerous as it is varied from sable and hartebeest to zebra and puku (puku in their thousands!). Birding is top-class, with hundreds of species recorded in and around the Musekese area from Pel's Owl to African Finfoot.

We appreciate that guests come with a great variety of interests and we have taken care to ensure that the well-maintained equipment we use reflects that. From the flat-bottomed hulls of our sturdy river boats, to the option of game drive vehicles with or without the roof. For the keen photographers we have specially adapted camera mounts to ensure complete stability for your shots. Walking safaris are tailored to suit, from exploratory adventures to shorter leg-stretch jaunts. Overall the fact that you are more likely to see more lions than tourists makes for one of the finest and truest wilderness locations on the continent.

Musekese Conservation
Musekese Conservation is a Zambian-run non-profit organization, founded by Phil and Tyrone. While it operates independently, the organizations remain closely linked through a shared commitment to Zambia’s wildlife and communities. MC carries out a full range of conservation activities across the Kafue landscape, including law enforcement, research, and community initiatives that protect wildlife and support local people within and adjacent to Kafue National Park. Classic Zambia continues to be one of the major supporters of MC’s projects across the landscape.
