Dunia Camp
Lamai Serengeti is tucked among the rocks of Kogakuria Kopje with panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, just a few miles from where the wildebeest cross the Mara River on their annual migration. For roughly a quarter of the year, between late July and October, this is where you'll find the greatest show on Earth in this remote northern section of the Serengeti.
Lamai Serengeti has just 12 open-fronted rooms split between two separate lodges. Each room is uniquely designed to fit into the complex geometry of the kopje and to make the most of this otherworldly location. The Main Lodge consists of 8 rooms and the smaller Private Lodge has 4 rooms. All have their own private and roomy verandas to enjoy the views. Each lodge has its own private bar and dining area, with adjoining library/map room. Both lodges have their own swimming pool. All rooms have 24-hour power and en-suite bathrooms with hot and cold running water, flush toilets and powerful showers. (Nomad)
Lamai rooms
(12 ROOMS)
There are twelve stone and thatch rooms, raised on wooden decking and all en-suite. Three have an adjoining twin room for children, sharing the bathroom. Each en-suite room is open-fronted, with mosquito netting that can be zipped closed, and canvas roll-downs if needed. There are canopied mosquito nets over the beds. The bathrooms are enclosed by heavy netting, and contain a generous shower with hot and cold running water (provided by a solar system), and flush toilet. Each room has a comfy day bed and chairs for relaxing on the verandah.
Game drives
Explore the Northern Serengeti with our fabulous and very experienced guides. Game drives allow you to get closer to the big game and cover greater distances so that you can explore further afield in this beautiful part of the Serengeti.
**Game drives are on a shared basis unless a private guide and vehicle have been pre-booked. Max six in a vehicle.
Walking safaris
Walking safaris are available at Lamai in certain seasons. At times of year when the grass can be a bit higher walking is sometimes not possible so it is important to bear this in mind (typically between January - March and June).
Walking in the bush is a fantastic experience and one of our favorite safari pastimes. It gives you the chance to really learn about the intricacies of the African bush; to taste, touch, smell and feel Africa. You don't get as up close and personal to the big game, but you do meet the little guys, all equally important in the grand scheme of things.
Lamai Serengeti is part of the Nomad Tanzania Trust creating awareness for projects in Conservation, Education and Health. They are also participants of Pack for a Purpose.
