Craters, Kopjes & Mara

Craters. Kopjes & Mara - 9 days
This isn't just a safari plan—it's an invitation to step beyond the familiar and into a landscape where every moment pulses with untold stories. What we've sketched here is more than an itinerary; it's a first glimpse into a journey that will weave you into the intricate tapestry of Tanzania's wild heart. As always, we can modify this trip to suit your needs.

Days 1-3: Ngorongoro Crater
Here, Entamanu defines their own Ngorongoro, off the beaten track, in Maasai territory. Following one of the world’s most stunning private drives, they bring you up to a dizzying edge of elemental Africa with panoramic views spinning forward into the Crater and back to the Serengeti plains. This is much more than a great vantage point for visiting the Crater, this is where they live the Ngorongoro life. There is surely no truer way to appreciate the magnitude and wonder of the Ngorongoro Crater, than from Entamanu where it's done entirely on your own terms and schedules.

Entamanu Ngorongoro (meaning ‘circle’ in Maa) is the only place in the world where you can enjoy views into both the Crater and the Serengeti. Offering an unspoiled, unparalleled experience of the Crater, and the land and culture that surrounds it. It is a place to escape to, from which to learn and understand  where the Crater fits as part of the wider environment. 2 nights

Days 3-6: Kusini Serengeti
Kusini Serengeti offers a remarkable safari experience set against the breathtaking southwestern area of the Serengeti National Park. The remote southern plains provide guests with unparalleled access to the region's stunning wildlife and landscapes. Positioned on a rocky outcrop, the camp boasts spectacular views of the predator-populated woodland and plains, making it a haven for wildlife enthusiasts. The camp's location is one of quiet and calm in an area of the park that boasts superb resident game, the opportunity to explore on foot, and the stunning array of kopjes in every direction.

At Kusini, guests can immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the Serengeti through a variety of unique activities. Daily game drives led by experienced Nomad guides who have been exploring these paths for decades. The region's diverse wildlife includes lions, elusive leopards, and large herds of elephants. Each game drive is an adventure that navigates the stunning landscapes while keeping an eye out for various bird species and other wildlife that inhabit the area. 3 nights

Days 6-9: Lamai Serengeti
Lamai Serengeti stands proud above the plains, around a tumble of giant boulders. You can see from this outcrop, the Kogakuria Kopje, for miles and miles. Over a million wildebeest cross these plains on their way to dodge the jaws of death in the Mara River, just down the track. On the Lamai Wedge, bristling with mammals all year round, there’s never a dull moment. Above it all, our beautiful kopje is a sacred wildlife haven – and Lamai Serengeti's mission is to act as its faithful guardians.

Lamai Serengeti fulfils the promise of the Serengeti many times over - by car and on foot - in these remote, less-travelled short grass plains. This part of the Serengeti is bisected by the perilous Mara River, where once a year, between July and October, over a million-strong wildebeest and zebra throw themselves across its crocodile-infested waters, heading for where the grass is greener. This makes for spectacular predator and prey viewing on the banks in the late dry season. 3 nights
