Kutali Camp

Kutali Camp is a classic tented safari camp that blends the comfort of modern luxury with the charm and authenticity of a true seasonal bush camp. With just six guest tents accommodating a maximum of twelve guests, Kutali offers an intimate and exclusive experience on the banks of the Zambezi River.

Each tent is thoughtfully positioned to capture sweeping river views and designed for comfort, featuring high-quality linen, comfortable beds, flushing toilets, running water, and traditional bucket showers. The central stretch-canvas main area, shaded beneath magnificent Winterthorn trees, provides a perfect setting for dining, relaxing with a book, or simply watching the ever-changing wildlife along the river. Accommodation at Kutali Camp consists of five simple canvas tents under fly sheets with drop-down sides and mesh-panneled windows to keep the insects at bay and the breeze flowing. Roll up the canvas on a hot day, and you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the river and surrounding wilderness. On request, black-out curtains can be provided to keep out the early morning light. You’ll find twin or double beds, depending on your requested configuration, and other furnishings in each tent include natural weave rugs, bedside tables with reading lamps, hanging storage, and a laundry basket. You’ll also find torches, water flasks, and walkie-talkies in case of an emergency. Every open-air bathroom features a flush toilet, washbasin with mirror over, and classic bucket shower. You can request hot water for your shower when required, and there are a few toiletries too – soap, shampoo, and conditioner. Outside each tent, there’s a simple seating arrangement with a couple of director’s chairs and a small table.

Kutali Camp’s lounge, dining, and bar areas occupy an open-sided mess tent shaded beneath winterthorn trees, where guests congregate for meals and sundowners, and to charge equipment. Furnishings include camp chairs and a dining table where everyone eats together, tucking into hearty, home-cooked meals. Breakfast is typically served outside around a warm campfire, whilst lunch and dinner are served in the mess tent. The views from camp are exceptional – some of the very best we know in the area!

Simply put, the Lower Zambezi has some of the finest big game wildlife viewing in Africa. This, coupled with the variety of safari activities on offer and the aesthetics of this park, make for a truly fantastic wildlife spectacle. High densities of elephant gather on the valley floor as the dry season commences, along with large herds of buffalo and impala. In attendance are all of the large predators one might expect, with lion, leopard and wild dog very well represented here. The only notable omission might be the giraffe, but a night-time safari scouting for honey badger and aardvark should help you forget about our long-necked friends!

With the broadest possible spectrum of safari activities on offer, our camps in the Lower Zambezi are ideal for each and every safari goer. We are specialists in walking and canoe based safaris, with a high-caliber of qualified guides (in Zambia guides are professional, and accredited to the same standard as school teachers). We also offer game drives, both day and night, alongside boat based safaris and even angling for those interested in trying their hand at landing the world famous Tigerfish! Photography is a passion of ours as a company and our guiding team are experts in light, angles and of course wildlife behavior and anticipation.
