Guacimo Eco-lodge

Guacimo Ecolodge is nested within 50 hectares of primary and secondary forests in the shores of the San Juan River in the Indio Maiz Biological Reserve buffer zone. Come and discover the Atlantic region of Nicaragua. Guacimo Lodge runs 100% on renewable energy and has only eight bungalows in order to minimize our carbon footprint. Its 50-hectare primary and secondary forest provides a true Central American lowland rainforest experience. The lodge is only accessible by water and it is located in Indio Maiz buffer zone

Guacimo Lodge serves local, fresh and healthy food. They love cold soups made from blended vegetables like the beetroot gazpacho or the Andalusian gazpacho and salads as their chickpea salad with olives. The starters are complemented by main dishes that include pastas, chicken fajitas and local varieties of fish caught from the river. Don’t miss the fresh snook or the local recipe of camarones de rio on season.

The architectural design adopts natural ventilation through window screens and ceiling openings. The impact of the construction on the soil and the terrain was minimal. Guacimo was built by local masons and artisans from the San Carlos and El Castillo communities. The lodge offers limited accommodations in order to improve interaction with nature and avoid the adverse effects of mass tourism.
