Dairy Flat Lodge
Set on almost 40 picturesque acres, Dairy Flat is a regenerative farm following organic practices, including a productive herb & vegetable garden that already supplies the multi award-winning Lake House kitchens, a newly planted orchard of apples, pears, stone fruit, quince and medlar; a vineyard featuring Pinot Noir and Chardonnay plantings, an established olive grove, ornamental hedgerow gardens, a bake house dedicated to slow-fermented sourdough and a spring-fed dam full of fresh water trout.
A serviced Lodge with six private suites, bake house, productive farm, olive grove and vineyard – just 10 minutes from Daylesford, 90 minutes from Melbourne. A specially designed and curated Lodge featuring original art and furniture commissioned by local makers offers six private King Suites and beautiful lounge and dining spaces. The resident Lodge Concierge will cook a full country style breakfast, coordinate all activities, light the firepit, mix a good negroni and more.
There’s plenty of activity on-site all year round … Early on the bakers will be busily tending the dough and ovens. You may see Jono, a long-term supplier (Brooklands Free Range Farms) moving the British White Cattle. Often, resident Bee Keeper Dan “the Bee Man” Palm will be on-site checking the hives. There is never a dull day in the vegetable gardens, especially during the ‘pick’ for the kitchen! The guinea fowl may be munching their way through the bugs in the garden … And the resident alpacas are always up for a little chaff and chat. Dairy Flat is surrounded by lush farmland and forest so kangaroos, wallabies, wombats and beautiful birdlife are abundant also.
The Lodge is nestled amongst almost 40 acres including a romantic established hedgerow garden, full of secret passageways, private nooks, seats and space for relaxation and games. There is a 250 tree olive grove, small vineyard of chardonnay and pinot noir plantings, orchard of heirloom varietals, spring fed dam and of course the productive farm garden, barn and polytunnels that supply the Lake House kitchens and guest of the Lodge. The suites can be booked individually or take over the place by booking all 6 suites.
Northern Suites.
The Northern Suites are large and luxurious, as well as individual in configuration and design. Dramatic oversized upholstered bedheads frame a super king-sized tailor-made “Daylesford” bed with heavenly topper. Crisp white linen is layered with blankets from the local mill, soft velvets and thick woollen throws for a luxurious and comfortable night’s sleep.
Comfortable spaces for lounging are configured to maximise the outlook with selected sofa and armchairs. The Northern Suites are within the main Lodge and as such it is easy to access the Lodge lounge, library and concierge kitchen.
Ensuites retain much of the original deco elements of the Lodge, with custom made vanities, oversized showers and charcoal claw-footed baths, perfect for an evening soak. There are two Northern Suites each with a walk-in robe. Please note that one is on the upper floor and is accessible via an internal staircase. All suites are individually keyed and have their own private safe in the room.
Southern Suites
The Southern Suites are nestled near the silver birch drive and wisteria walk with pretty garden views from their almost floor to ceiling windows.
Rich dark timber floors are paired with a custom-made rug and a series of landscape paintings from local artist Allan Wolf-Tasker. Each suite is individually decorated with custom designed and made furniture including a super king-sized tailor-made “Daylesford” bed with heavenly topper, upholstered sofa, leather armchair, and walk-in robe. Crisp white linen is layered with blankets from the local mill, soft velvets, and thick woollen throws for a luxurious and comfortable night’s sleep.
Vineyard Suites
These beautiful suites are housed in the original Farm Barn overlooking the vineyard towards Mount Franklin and the rolling hills. Guests access the Lodge lounge, library at their leisure across a paved courtyard.
These modern country barn-style rooms are still full of luxurious touches, large custom vanities, walk-in robes, deep ceramic tubs & infrared heating to ensure you stay toasty even on a frosty morning.
A four-poster king-size bed features a custom headboard and signature “Daylesford” mattress with heavenly topper and is set with crisp white linen, layered with blankets from the local mill, soft velvets and thick woollen throws for a luxurious and comfortable night’s sleep. The large sofa and chair are made for relaxation as you watch the sunset over the vines.
Because the Vineyard Suites are a few steps from the main Lodge; provisions for making tea, coffee, and hot chocolate are also included so you don’t need to ‘robe up’ for your morning fix. There are two Vineyard Suites in total, adjacent to each other, but not interconnecting. Please note that all suites are individually keyed and have their own private safe in the room.
Dairy Flat Lodge is an ideal destination for guests who are keen to embrace life on a productive farm, but who still want hotel-style comforts and a good cocktail at the end of the day. A live-in concierge will organize every aspect of the guests’ stay. Lodge guests are able to partake in a farm tour or book into scheduled workshops on gardening, baking, beekeeping & more.
