The Bugis, the perfect boat for eco-conscious travelers. This boat is really quiet because it is always better to listen to the sound of the sea instead of the noise of the engines. A-27 meter Indonesian wooden liveaboard yacht, the Bugis, has been built and designed for sustainability and her guests’ utmost comfort, safety, and fun. She is equipped with 4 sizable cabins, accommodating up to 8 guests, perfect for a small group of friends and family! With a crew of 9 which is more than a 1:1 guest-to-crew ratio, you are guaranteed a top notch service while aboard the Bugis. We will be exploring Indonesia’s top cruise destinations, from the renowned Komodo Islands, the remote and untouched Flores Sea and Wakatobi National Park, and the lesser known Banggai Archipelago–home to the Bajau people a.k.a "Sea Nomads". Hop aboard the Bugis (or sistership, Bajau), and prepare yourself for an adventure of a lifetime! (nomadarch)

The Cabins
The 4 cabins on the boat are located on the main deck, not below deck. The sea breeze keeps the median temperature on board approximately 3 degrees Celsius cooler than on land. The boat's architectural concept prioritizes open areas, allowing guests to connect with the elements. Air-conditioned cabins, in contrast to fan-cooled ones, require quilts, closed doors, and windows, which we find unusual for enjoying the tropics. There is no air-conditioning in the cabins which contradicts the eco-friendly pursuit of this vessel.
The Bugis has quadruple cabins, all equipped with en-suite bathrooms, providing cozy comfort for our guests. Each triple cabin accommodates two guests, either sharing a double bed or utilizing the upper berth, which is also suitable for a child traveling with family. The windows provide sea view and fresh air. Due to this natural ventilation the cabin doesn’t require air conditioning.
Please note : that the Bugis does not have any air conditioning onboard. The cabins however are very well-insulated and designed to get plenty of natural light and cooling from its large window.

Your holiday on this boat will be like a sting of fun-filled day. At your own pace, you are invited to enjoy the activities specific to our maritime environment: from snorkeling to diving, from kayaking to paddle-boarding, from swimming in crystal-clear water to beach-combing, we are not short of options. The boat is also a unique way to reach remote islands that would otherwise take days to reach. Shore activities include visit of villages, hiking, trekking and cultural side-trips, all done in the spirit of slow travel.
Slow travel is about making connections, and that is what Nomad Archipelago’s cruises are all about. Connection with people, local cultures, nature, and your inner self–away from the hustle and bustle of modern life. The boat, cruise programs, activities, and destinations have been thought out to provide you with the best slow travel experience possible with tons of exploration and sweet discoveries that await. No stress, no fuss–just pure bliss and fun.
Snorkeling
Over 90% of the marine life that inhabit coral reefs can be seen within 4 meters below the surface of the ocean. This means that snorkelers can enjoy Indonesia’s world-renowned marine biodiversity without the hassle of putting on scuba gear. You will be amazed to see how easy it is to see the rich diversity of reef fish and corals and occasionally the larger pelagic species such as manta rays, large trevally and even whale sharks (in specific locations), a truly unique experience. This kaleidoscopic world never disappoints and even exceeds anyone’s expectations. Not surprisingly, snorkeling will be one of our major activity.
Village Visits
Lovely people, diverse cultures, fascinating stories, every village has a special character of its own, waiting to be discovered. The village visits would normally take place in the morning, sometimes early morning if we need to stock up on fresh produce in the local market. Sights and sounds in the villages are many: we will often stop to visit the local school, walk the streets to witness the daily activities of the inhabitants, and generally immerse ourselves in their so different way of life. Sometimes late afternoon, we’ll engage the locals in a match of football or volleyball.
Hiking and side visits
Exploring a land of extreme diversity. Sometimes we’ll come across such spectacular sceneries that we’ll organize some hiking to enjoy the area. It will be particularly true when we visit national parks or nature reserves, but also on volcanos, into rain forest or simply through cultivated fields close to villages. On more important island, we sometimes rent a local vehicle to tour the place and visit its most interesting sites.
Photography
Indonesia is a dream country for photographers. Locals are friendly and would love to be photographed. Village life will probably be the main focus of your photographic work. These places here are so different from what you are accustomed to, that you will fine opportunities at every corner: a life scene here, an interesting face there, a traditional and colorful event a bit further. Then, there is nature: pristine, inviting, the territory is magnificent and there can be no doubt that you will fall in love.
Scuba Diving
Scuba diving in Indonesia tops the bucket list of many avid divers, and for good reason. Located in the Pacific Ocean’s “Coral Triangle” Indonesia is home to some of the world’s most biodiverse scuba diving destinations–Raja Ampat, Komodo, Wakatobi, and the list goes on.
Scuba diving is not our main focus, but we provide the necessary equipment onboard and experienced dive masters to guide you. One of our founders has over 20 years of experience as the cruise director of a number of dive liveaboard boats in Indonesia, and his expertise in diving safety as well as the dive sites in Indonesia will ensure that you will be in good hands.
Note that diving is available only when chartering the boat.
The Beach
Let’s face it, we’ll spend quite a bit of time on beaches. Always, we’ll be alone to enjoy the sun or the shade of the swaying palm trees. Relax under a coconut tree, sunbathe while reading, or doze off with the sound of crashing waves to lull you to sleep.
You want more action? Grab one of our kayaks or stand up paddle boards, or even a yoga mat! Feel like checking out underwater life? Let us know and we will bring you the necessary snorkeling equipment. Then at sunset, sometimes at midday, we will set up a barbecue. Delicious food, great conversations, cold beers, fresh cocktails, and an amazing sunset to end the day. What else can you ask for?
