Metita Beach Resort

Welcome to your gateway to some of The Coral Triangle’s captivating diving. Metita Resort sits on pristine white sands off the southern tip of Morotai Island, far from the beaten track. This eco-resort will wow you with its natural beauty, standard of service, and mindful sustainability policies. Allow yourself to glide into island life and experience a peace and tranquillity rarely found in modern life.

You will feel like the island is your private paradise, but despite the secluded feel, this resort has everything you need for a wonderful stay. Metita features a restaurant, bar & lounge, boutique, saltwater swimming pool, and massage treatments all designed to maximize your comfort and enjoyment.

Built from local materials, our cottages are both modern and traditional, fitting in seamlessly with the natural environment. Each cottage is air-conditioned and features a spacious open-air bathroom with a fresh desalinated water shower, minibar, and veranda with lounge seating or hammock. Opt for either a double or twin cottage on the beach, or a family cottage in the garden for a larger group.

With such beautifully clear waters and incredible biodiversity, it’s no wonder diving and snorkeling are the main draws to Morotai. There are endless dive and snorkeling sites to be visited and underwater photographers will have more than enough to keep them occupied. For guests ready for some land adventures, half-day and day tours are available to see cultural and historical sites, and explore the natural beauty of Morotai Island.

Diving & Snorkeling

We’re sure diving is at the forefront of your thoughts as you look out on the crystal-clear waters. The fully equipped dive center, complete with a camera room, provides access to some of the most pristine and biodiverse reefs in the world. We operate two fiberglass dive boats and offer Nitrox for qualified divers.

Metita’s dive sites range from steep and sloping walls to gentle sand slopes, perfect for muck diving. The area boasts an impressive variety of soft and hard corals, rivaling Raja Ampat and the house reef is excellent for both diving and snorkeling.

History, Hiking + Nature Tours

Morotai Island, just a 10-minute boatride away from Metita, offers splendid hiking opportunities for those who are enthusiastic about discovering untouched forests inhabited by beautiful paradise birds and with hidden romantic waterfalls. One of the highest and most beautiful is Raja Waterfall with almost 80m from basin to top edge. There are large caves as adventurous as back in the times of the first Europeans coming here.

The vast history of Morotai as an important bastion for the Allies in WW2 is still visible in countless artefacts as well as the history as spice and silver islands of Indonesia and the Western World. Until today the smell of cloves drying in the sun and nutmeg during harvest season is overwhelming and silver jewelery is a popular gift.
