Ever since the Under Canvas properties popped up on our radar a few years back, I’ve been dying to stay at one of their sites. Although I’m not a camper, I do get the appeal and am thankful for the invention of ‘Glamping’! Under Canvas (UC) started in Yellowstone and is expanding to include more and more national parks in the USA. They currently have 13 from Acadia to Zion. We stayed at their Zion location in July (yes, not the most ideal time due to crowds in the park and heat), but that’s the timing that worked for us. And, it was just fine. Zion National Park is pretty great about dispersing the crowds over their offering of trails and activities. As with most national parks, once you walk in more than 20 minutes or so, the crowds really start to thin out. We enjoyed all the big hikes at Zion and e-bikes too, plus the town had great restaurant options which we did for breakfast and lunch. We could have dined at UC, but we were eager to get out and start our day.

After our busy days, we loved hanging out at the common areas of UC. There’s lots of games to play, other travelers to chat with and a great food and bar. Nighttime, we enjoyed the fire pits and taught visiting European families how to make a s’more. The star-gazing was out of this world, literally! The tents are comfortable and cool enough at night for sound sleeping (no electricity). They are reminiscent of African safari tenting with ensuite bathrooms, lanterns and cozy Ralph Lauren and Simple Human furnishings (very tastefully done). My expectations were high for this trip and they were met! Thank you Under Canvas; we look forward to visiting more of your locations dotted around the USA.  Sandy / Jul, 2025 / Utah
