Humpbacks of Tonga

Whale season in Vava’u is mid-July through October. Some days are sunny; some days are cloudy. The weather is warm, but you’ll want to bring a wind jacket to keep you comfortable on the boat. Water temperature is around 77 F (25 C).

The Trip:

In 2019, the brilliant photographer, Amos, lead a scouting trip off the coast of the Eastern-Central Pacific where he had a special opportunity to witness the effects of a natural phenomenon called upwelling — the process of upward movement to the ocean surface of nutrient-rich, deeper, colder waters.

Itinerary:

Arrival Day: We meet you at Moorea airport or Ferry Terminal | transfer to the Lodge (check-in after 1.00pm)

Your Tour Briefing is at 6.30pm, followed by the Welcome dinner on the verandah at Moorea Beach Lodge at 7.00pm

Day 1: Maumere

After boarding Adelaar and your welcome drink you will have time to settle in, get to know the boat, crew and fellow passengers, relax and enjoy your first day of living aboard Adelaar.
