Snorkeling Tours
HOL CHAN AND SHARK RAY ALLEY
The single most popular snorkeling tour for guests on Ambergris Caye is the famous Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Shark Ray Alley. Hol Chan (meaning little channel) is a compact yet vibrant example of the marine diversity provided by the Reef. Shark Ray Alley gets you as close to nurse sharks, stingrays and horse-eyed jacks as you would like to be. Night snorkeling can also be enjoyed at Hol Chan after dark.
MEXICO ROCKS AND TRES COCOS
A pleasant snorkeling alternative for those who would rather not get close to the nurse sharks. This tour stops at two equally excellent locations for observing a variety of fish and coral. With plenty of large coral formations you are sure to find colorful treasures around every coral head!
SAIL, SNORKEL & BBQ COMBO
A full day sail up north on a catamaran with snorkeling stops at magnificent Mexico Rocks and Tres Cocos. Followed by a delightful BBQ lunch on the beach and a leisurely sail back to the resort with rum punch and the tropical breeze in your hair!
FISH, SNORKEL AND BEACH BBQ
A great combination tour for fun and relaxation. You will be taken out to the reef to fish for your lunch, then head to the beach to relax, stretch your legs or swim, while your guide BBQ’s your catch. After lunch it’s time for snorkeling at Mexico Rocks and Tres Cocos, where you will see many fish and a variety of coral formations. Then home again to Xanadu, where tranquility awaits you.
SAIL / SNORKEL / CAYE CAULKER
This is the perfect combination tour for experiencing three different adventures in one! This full day tour will give you a taste of sailing the Caribbean Sea on a catamaran, snorkeling at the famous Hol Chan and Shark Ray Alley and a visit to our sister island of Caye Caulker. Sail back to Ambergris Caye with complimentary rum punch for the perfect end to a great day.
Diving
LOCAL SCUBA DIVING
Belize is famous for lying adjacent to the second largest barrier reef in the world and a byproduct of that is the equally famous scuba diving experience. With over 20 unique dive sites, all less than a ten-minute boat ride from our dock, you could dive multiple tanks per day during your stay and not dive the same site twice. Most dives feature a series of ‘finger’ canyons that place you on the edge of the deep blue sea as you drift past coral and larger fish. Additionally there are plenty of swim through caves and canyons that provide for an incredible diving experience. Diving trips are available in: 1 tank dives, 2 tank dives and 3 tank dives.
GREAT BLUE HOLE
World famous diver Jacques-Yves Cousteau declared this a top ten scuba diving site in the world in 1971. Since then it has been a mainstay for diving enthusiasts. Diving down to depths of 130 feet you will see stalactite formations up close and personal. Round out this day trip with 2 additional dives around Lighthouse Reef.
TURNEFFE ATOLL
Another favorite and equally impressive 3 dive day trip is around Turneffe Atoll and the popular wall dives known as “The Elbow” and “The Aquarium”. The Turneffe dive sites provide a truly remarkable experience that brings you up-close to some of the most colorful fish in Belize.
Secret Beach
Secret Beach is located on the west side of the island and has become one of the most popular activities for visitors to San Pedro. The crystal clear, turquoise water stretches out for miles around and is perfect for swimming, wading, or floating on your back just gazing up at the sky. If you are feeling energetic you can rent kayaks, paddleboards, and jet skis or play volleyball in the water. There are a few restaurants and bars with lounge chairs where you can enjoy fresh cocktails, beer and various food options. Getting to Secret Beach is part of the adventure as you leave the hustle and bustle of the town behind you, and drive along the sandy road in your golf cart. On either side of the road you can experience the natural beauty of the island with mangroves, expanses of water, birds and perfect quiet all around.

BIRD WALK
Xanadu, being a green resort, has left half the property under natural vegetation. Within this area there is a nature/bird walk through the trees and tree tops. Guests can walk up to the top and watch for birds and once down on the ground again can see little lizards, iguanas, hermit crabs and large blue land crabs moving about.

Honeymooners, adventurous family vacationers, and volunteer vacationers flock to this impressive country to explore Maya sites, watch for colorful birds and other wildlife, and snorkel off the Northern Cayes. While tourists are busy scouting the ruins of ancient civilizations and exploring wildlife sanctuaries and marine reserves, they can also find ways to make a difference when traveling to Belize. There are many non-profit organizations and service projects to which tourists can donate. There are a number of service projects in Belize that accept charitable donations.
Visitors interested in responsible tourism can help children in Belize by donating school supplies, including backpacks, notebooks, and writing utensils to a number of these non-profits. Humanitarians interested in helping other parts of the community are invited to donate to sustainable agriculture projects; these projects need small tools. Other projects are focused on providing medical care and improving wellness in these communities; visitors are invited to donate medical supplies to these organizations.
