Daring and ambitious, and a wee bit salty. The Wilderness Explorer was destined for Alaska’s deep waters from the first moment she slid into the drink. A strong “sea boat” with feet, she is not bashful or apologetic in her unflinching drive to seek out secret niches. Embracing change, the crew is known to try the untried, whether it’s gaining access to an unexplored trail or a new recipe with locally foraged ingredients. Bold with a capital Brrr, she is also our only boat to have over-wintered in Southeast Alaska, for not one, but two wicked cold seasons. Get to know her, and she’ll warm your heart.
Three accessible decks are fully equipped for comfort and action. The sun deck has our open bridge and a covered sitting area; the Lounge Deck features wrap-around glass in the lounge with cheery bar as well as the hot tub on the bow viewing area. The Main deck features the cozy dining room and the EZ Dock launch platform. The lounge has a large flat-screen TV featuring closed-circuit channels which include a GPS map of the location of the ship and an under-bow camera. The lounge also has a limited library, filled with wildlife encyclopedias and binoculars are available for wildlife-spotting.
Onboard amenities include: EZ dock kayak launch platform; bow-mounted underwater camera; kayaks, paddleboards, inflatable skiffs, hiking poles, on-deck hot tub; fitness equipment and yoga mats; DVD and book library.
The dining room features open seating, buffet-style and plated meals at set times. Unlimited beverages, alcoholic and non, are included in the price of the cruise both at mealtime and in the Lounge's bar during the day and evening. Day 1: Juneau, Alaska - Embarkation

After a day exploring Alaska’s capital, there is nothing like a warm welcome from your crew and a glass of bon voyage bubbly. Once all are aboard and settled in, you are underway. The adventure begins now. Out on the bow, your expedition team is already scanning the horizon for the first whale spouts of the week. Southeast Alaska greets you with dramatic coastlines and mountain views. The journey has begun.
Day 2: Captain's Choice
Welcome to the backcountry. The Tongass National Forest is vast and ever changing, and today’s destination is up to your captain and expedition leader. Their choices are guided by the seasons and the movements of wildlife. Calm waters and rich forested shorelines invite you to dive into your first full day. Whether you are hiking in moss-draped woods, exploring quiet back meadows, or paddling mellow coves, this is your introduction to the wilds of Southeast Alaska. Bald eagles perch in treetops and harbor seals surface, curious. If you are lucky, the exhale of a humpback, or even an orca, might mark your first big wildlife moment.
Day 3: Glacier Bay National Park
Spanning 3.3 million acres, just shy of the size of Connecticut, Glacier Bay National Park is vast, wild, and mostly unexplored. But you are not most visitors. Today, you venture deep into the park where you can kayak, skiff, hike glacial ridges, walk on a moraine, or even all-day paddle. Watch for mountain goats, sea lions, puffins, and, if you are lucky, a surprise whale sighting. 
Day 4: Icy Strait
Ease into the day with sunrise stretches on deck and a strong cup of coffee as your expedition team scouts the best opportunities for exploration. Today is all about flexibility and immersion, with options to kayak at your own pace, join an all-day paddle, set out on a shore walk, or venture deeper on a bushwhack hike that reveals the raw textures of Alaska’s wild landscapes. Skiff rides open access to otherwise unreachable stretches of coastline, while open paddles and yak-and-walk combinations let you shape the day moment by moment alongside your naturalist guides, who bring the region’s ecology, geology, and sense of place to life.
Day 5: Chichagof Island
Today, we explore the wild coastline of Chichagof Island in search of the elusive coastal brown bear. This remote area is rich with life and offers some of the best bear-viewing opportunities in Southeast Alaska. Your captain and expedition leader will take you deep into bear territory using their expert local knowledge. Activities include shoreline walks, kayaking, skiff rides, and up-close (but safe) bear spotting from the water. This is a day of awe-inspiring encounters with nature at its most raw. 
Day 6: Baranof Island
Baranof is your playground today as we move toward the wild reaches of Baranof Island and the remote South Baranof Wilderness, where the coastline grows increasingly rugged and beautiful. Glacial fjords carve deep into the land, muskegs open to sweeping views, and our route carries us into Peril Strait, a passage rich with Indigenous and Russian history and known for swirling currents that draw marine mammals during seasonal migrations. Shape the day your way with all-day yak-and-walk adventures, open paddles, skiff tours, bushwhacks through misty forests, meadow walks, and explorations along salmon streams—every option offering a deeper connection to this dynamic, story-filled landscape.
Day 7: Krestof & Nakwasina Sounds
The western fringe of Baranof Island is scattered with remote, uninhabited isles, an adventurer’s dream. Secluded coves, rugged shorelines, and rocky cliffs provide ideal habitat for seabirds and marine life. Drop anchor and choose your own adventure, from snorkeling and kayaking to skiff tours or guided hikes. Intertidal zones here are natural touch tanks. Search for sea stars, urchins, and edible kelps. It is a day of immersive exploration, capped with a Captain’s Dinner and a heartwarming photo journey from your expedition team.
Day 8: Sitka, Alaska - Disembarkation
Transfer (included): Hospitality area to Sitka Rocky Gutierrez Airport (SIT). Your flight should leave no earlier than 11:30 a.m.
Welcome to Sitka by the Sea. Endearing, remote, and rich in history, Sitka is a perfect finale to your adventure. Enjoy one last breakfast on board before saying farewell to your crew and fellow travelers. You will disembark and transfer to the airport or continue on with an UnCruise hotel stay or land tour. If time allows, explore the Alaska Raptor Center or take a peaceful stroll through Sitka National Historical Park.

Day 1: Seward, Alaska - Embarkation

Welcome to Alaska! You will fly into Anchorage and then transfer to Seward, a town full of rich history that acts as the gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park. Board the Safari Explorer and settle in before enjoying dinner onboard and meeting your expedition team as your journey begins.
Day 2: Kenai Fjords National Park
Awaken in a glacial wonderland. Established in 1980, Kenai Fjords National Park protects over 600,000 acres of glacial wilderness. The Harding Icefield feeds dozens of tidewater glaciers, carving deep fjords where ice meets the sea. Cruise past towering cliffs, waterfalls, and ice-choked inlets and watch for harbor seals, puffins, and sea otters by kayak or skiff.
Day 3: Kodiak Island
Welcome to Kodiak Island, where volcanic landscapes and pristine waters await. Paddle quiet bays in search of sea otters and bald eagles or hike forested hillsides. This region is also a critical habitat for marine mammals and one of the most significant seabird nesting areas on the Pacific coast. Each cove reveals more of Kodiak’s wild character. Kodiak Island boasts many opportunities for outdoor activities; you will have the option to kayak, hike, or take a skiff tour, depending on conditions.
Day 4: Katmai National Park
Enter a landscape shaped by fire and teeming with life. Katmai National Park, established in 1918, is home to the Valley of Ten Thousand Smokes and one of the world’s largest brown bear populations. Explore Kukak Bay or Geographic Harbor by skiff or on foot and witness the power of volcanic terrain alongside salmon-rich rivers that draw bears and bald eagles.
Day 5: Ugashik National Wildlife Refuge
The Alaska Peninsula Refuge offers a dramatic blend of volcanic peaks, sweeping tundra, and wave-battered coastline. When the salmon run, Ugashik Lakes and streams attract large numbers of brown bears. Explore this unspoiled wilderness by hiking, kayaking, or skiffing through one of Alaska’s most biologically rich regions.
Day 6: Aniakchak National Monument & Preserve
No lines, no crowds, just wild Alaska. One of the least visited places in the National Park System, Aniakchak is a true geological marvel. Its six-mile-wide, 2,500-foot-deep volcanic caldera formed during a massive eruption 3,500 years ago. Weather permitting, explore this rarely seen landscape on foot or by skiff and feel the energy of the Ring of Fire beneath your feet.
Day 7: Unga Island Abandoned Village
Step back in time on Unga Island, where petrified logs and stumps from an ancient sequoia forest line the shore, preserved by volcanic activity millions of years ago. Wander through the island’s abandoned village, where weathered buildings tell stories of life on the edge of the Aleutians. Explore by skiff or kayak and keep watch for whales near the Shumagin Islands.
Day 8: Captains Choice
Today’s destination depends on tides, weather, and shifting channels, making every visit to this region unique. Whether paddling past volcanic cliffs, hiking windswept shores, or exploring by skiff, the scenery and solitude are unforgettable. There will also be incredible opportunities for spotting rare bird species in this area.
Day 9: Akutan Island
Akutan Island is home to one of Alaska’s most active volcanoes, Mount Akutan, and showcases some of the Aleutians’ most diverse terrain. Hike wildflower-dotted hillsides, explore hidden coves, paddle rocky shorelines, or take a skiff tour to a sea cave and a tiny local town, keeping an eye out for sea otters, eagles, and whales.
Day 10: Unalaska to Dutch Harbor
Dock in Dutch Harbor to explore the heart of the Aleutian Islands. Visit the Church of the Holy Ascension, the oldest standing church building in Alaska, and explore regional history at the Museum of the Aleutians and the Aleutian World War II National Historic Area Visitor Center. Choose a town tour, skiff excursion, or hike for sweeping views. Dutch Harbor is also known as the home harbor of the Discovery Channel’s Deadliest Catch.
Day 11: Dutch Harbor, Alaska - Disembarkation
Arrive: Dutch Harbor, Alaska
