RABAT, the garden city, is separated from Salé by the BouRegreg river (formerly Sala).

The two cities are surrounded by sumptuous ramparts and, from their rich common past, result, in each, of the particularly interesting monuments, of which Oudayas, citadel which dominates the splendid estuary and which gave its name to Rabat. At its feet extends the medina and its pretty houses which justify its classification as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

We should also mention the Hassan Tower, the Chellah, the Mohamed V tomb, the 2 new museums: archaeological and contemporary art.

Salé is not to be outdone with its lovely Medersa Mérinide, its Mosque, its souks, its old cemetery, and its marine gate, the last vestige of the landmark of the famous corsairs of Salé.

Two days are recommended, especially if, from the Moorish café of the Oudayas, you want to enjoy the sunset over Salé.
