Opening August 2026 - more photos then!
Positioned in a Tamboti thicket along the banks of one of the many tributaries flowing into the Timbavati River, Shisaka Camp has six luxury suites designed to blend naturally with their surroundings. Taking its name from the Tsonga word shisaka, meaning “nest”, reflected in the distinctive rooftop salas that crown each suite. Accessed via a staircase from the timber deck below, these nest-like retreats are perfect spaces for relaxation, enjoying elevated views across the bushveld. From this vantage point, guests can observe vibrant birdlife during the day and a star-filled sky at night.
The interiors draw inspiration from the nearby river, with calming tones of blue and grey complemented by cool polished screed floors and natural textures. Each suite opens onto a shaded timber deck beneath a pergola, where a private infinity pool extends the living space toward the surrounding landscape.
Inside, a king-sized bed faces expansive glass doors that frame views across the tributary and towards the distant Drakensberg Mountains. The spacious bathroom includes double vanities, a freestanding bath and both indoor and outdoor showers, allowing guests to remain immersed in the sights and sounds of the wilderness throughout their stay. Luxury Villas
(2 VILLAS)
Drawing inspiration from the elegant design of nearby Shisaka Luxury Suites, Diopi and Passanwarri Villas are created for families or groups of friends travelling together. Set on the banks of the Timbavati River, each villa features distinctive elevated “salas” – cosy roof structures resembling bird nests. Accessed by a staircase from the timber deck, these secluded spaces offer sweeping views and are perfect for afternoon naps, birdwatching, wildlife spotting along the riverbank, or stargazing before sleep.
Guests enter through a lobby where stone-clad walls and raw cement contrast with polished screed floors that extend throughout the villa. Calming tones of blue and grey echo the surrounding landscape, while expansive floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors frame views of the river and distant Drakensberg Mountains.
To the left of the entrance, the first bedroom includes an en-suite circular bathroom with double vanity and central shower, opening onto the deck. The larger second bedroom features a dressing room and spacious bathroom with freestanding bath and indoor–outdoor shower. Between them, a generous lounge opens onto a pergola-shaded deck with a sunken lounge and infinity pool, completing this private safari retreat.

At this Private Game Reserve in South Africa, your days are built around world-class wildlife viewing. The premier activities include twice-daily open-vehicle game drives to spot the Big Five, morning bush walks to learn tracking, and luxurious lodge amenities, stargazing, and fine dining.
Twice-Daily Game Drives: Led by expert rangers and trackers, you’ll enjoy off-road wildlife viewing to get close to lions, leopards, and elephants. Sunset drives often feature "sundowner" drinks and snacks in the middle of the bush.
Guided Bush Walks: Get a ground-level perspective of the lowveld. Your ranger will teach you how to track animals, identify tracks, and observe smaller flora and fauna.
Cultural Village Tours: Take a trip to the local communities to learn about the local culture, storytelling, and the reserve’s ongoing community and educational projects.
Stargazing: Away from city light pollution, enjoy clear-sky views of the Southern Hemisphere with the naked eye or through high-powered telescopes.
