Nestled on the northern edge of the Okavango Delta in the Shinde Private Concession, Shinde Footsteps is charming and timeless camp granting guests the opportunity to immerse themselves in nature. The camp retains its delicate footprint and endearing character while offering a discerning safari experience. Days are spent exploring the wilderness areas, while evenings are wound away around the fire, down on the Kalahari sand.
Despite having four tents, Shinde Footsteps accommodates a maximum of six guests at any given time, ensuring an intimate and exclusive safari experience for couples, small groups, or families. The four simple yet comfortable canvas tents on decks each comprise an ensuite bathroom, indoor and outdoor shower, porcelain wash basin and wifi. Guests can choose a twin, double, or family tent with two bedrooms and a shared bathroom.
Due to the camp's location, Shinde Footsteps offers a balanced mix of water and land-based activities. Explore this breathtaking, diverse environment by game drives, night drives, mokoro excursions, boat cruises and walking safaris. Guests will have the opportunity to spot a wide array of animals, including elephants, red lechwes, wild dogs, lions, leopards, hyenas, tsessebe, kudu, zebras, and giraffes. The diverse habitat also provides a haven for numerous bird species and some special semi-aquatic species such as sitatunga.
The Young Explorers Program hosted by a specialist family guide is offered at all our camps, including Shinde Footsteps. This specially designed program encourages families to discover the wonders of the African Wilderness together. The emphasis is on providing the family with engaging, age-appropriate activities on a flexible schedule whilst creating shared family memories to last a lifetime.
At Shinde Footsteps, guests can also focus on experiencing the wilderness of the Okavango Delta in the most traditional way – on foot. Walking is the highlight of a 'true' safari experience, and no special training is required, as the focus is on exploration and discovery – tracking fresh spoor each morning to reveal the previous night's events makes it a memorable safari adventure. Guests gain an in-depth knowledge of the incredible way wildlife and habitat interact.
For guests seeking a more focused and immersive walking experience, a skilled and highly qualified specialist walking guide can accompany them throughout their safari at any of our camps. Each specialist walking guide can lead a maximum of six guests, ensuring a personalized adventure – depending on the group size, a private vehicle may be required. (KD)
