Roving Bushtops
Roving Bushtops moves between Kusini in Southern Serengeti and Seronera in Central Serengeti. Seronera is known for its abundant wildlife and fabulous viewing throughout the year. Kusini is the best possible vantage point from which to watch the wildebeest birthing season. The camp site in Central Serengeti is a short drive from Seronera airstrip not far from the Moru Kopjes area (often called the jewel in the crown of the Serengeti) The Kopjes are huge granite rock formations which burst through the grass plains, creating vistas of stunning beauty beneath rolling hills. The land traps water, attracting abundant wildlife and ensuring fabulous viewing throughout the year. For those who love nature in its purest form, the heart of the Serengeti is without peer or parallel. The sheer quantity of game here is phenomenal, with resident and migrating herbivores stalked by loping leopards, charismatic cheetah and languid lions. Between November and May, the migration either passes through or is within one or two hours game drive away from Ndutu or the Western Corridor. The camp site in Southern Serengeti is the best possible vantage point from which to view the wildebeest birthing season.
Guests stay in eight superbly-specified luxury tents, featuring kig-size beds and 24 hour butler service. During the day the tent walls can be opened on three sides, enabling panoramic views of the surrounding bush. Our service includes all drinks, complimentary massages, private game drive vehicles, wifi and 24 hour power.
As each day draws to a close, you and your fellow guests can re-gather at Roving Bushtops elegant dining tent. Here you select from a sophisticated menu in a haven of contemporary luxury, set against arguably the worlds greatest safari backdrop. Alternatively you can dine in the privacy of your tent-suite.
Daily game drives are led by expert rangers, supported by keen-eyed local spotters. We have always sourced and converted some of the best game-viewing vehicles in East Africa, so each days roving takes place in superbly equipped, ultra-reliable open 4x4 Land Cruisers.

Family tents
(1 ROOM)
We "park" two Rover suites right next to each other.
Private Game Drives
There are no better game viewing locations on earth than the Masai Mara and Serengeti. We believe our open converted 4×4 vehicles, expert guides and eagle-eyed spotters are without peer or parallel. The combination makes any Bushtops safari simply unforgettable. All game drives are private for guests who are staying at Roving Bushtops.
Nature Walk
At Roving Bushtops we offer a nature walk around the camp grounds. The walk takes place in the early morning hours and is conducted by your ranger. Apart from flora and fauna, we look at the previous night's droppings and tracks.
Hot Air Balloon Safari
There is nothing quite like soaring high above the herds in a hot air balloon, as the sun rises over the Serengeti. If this prospect appeals, and you decide to add a balloon safari to your itinerary, do let us know in advance, so we can arrange a booking with our local hot air balloon operator. You will be picked up from your tent suite before dawn, ready for a briefing and then launch as the sun makes its appearance.
The flight lasts an unforgettable hour or slightly longer, before your balloon is brought gracefully back to earth – and a celebratory Bush champagne breakfast. You can then head off on a full day’s day game drive, or return to camp for a more leisurely morning and even a return to bed, to catch up on lost sleep.
Aromatherapy Massage
We offer aromatherapy massages in the privacy of your tent suites at Roving Bushtops. Unwind after a long day out on safari to the relaxing sounds of the bush while you enjoy this complimentary treat.
Bushcraft Challenge for Children
If you are bringing younger members of the family with you, there's something exciting awaiting them at Bushtops. Our Bushcraft Challenge. This introduces youngsters to basic survival skills, local culture, the importance of conservation and (of course) local flora and fauna.
Activities include learning to make fire without matches or a lighter; completing animal spotting checklists (assisted by our rangers); identifying animal tracks and making a memento plaster cast of their favorites, learning about animal bones, anthropology stories, practicing archery; trying out bead making skills; baking Swahili cookies and more!
Robanda School Visit
Education is the greatest gift – and helping out local schools is very much part of the Bushtops way. It’s fundamental to our belief that luxury safaris must go hand in hand with care for the land, its wildlife and the communities who were there long before us. Our local schools are proud of what we achieve together, so the headmaster or a teacher is always happy to give our guests a tour. In around 45 minutes you get to meet the students, see them in class and note some of the projects we’ve funded, built or worked on. A visit always creates an unforgettable impression: it’s a captivating experience, seeing how children in less fortunate communities take every chance they can get to learn – creating new opportunities for their future. To take part in a school visit, just let us know before you arrive. If not, we may still be able to arrange things once you join us. This activity can only be done if Roving Bushtops is in Seronera. There is no cost.
Private Bush Breakfast
Picture this: an early morning wake-up call, followed by a mysterious drive into the wilderness. Then, as the sun rises and light floods the landscape, you find yourself in an oasis of tranquility. You hop from the truck to survey this wonderland. Moments later, your table awaits you. This is your Private Bush breakfast.
It’s highly unlikely that you have ever started the day in such a glorious location, or in such splendid isolation. No fellow diners: just you, our chef and your driver, serving a hot meal and an array of delicious buffet delicacies. A glorious day in the Bush has begun …We recommend you pre-book your private bush breakfast with us before you arrive.
Full Day Game Drive & Picnic Lunch
During a full-day game drive your ranger will find a nice spot under a tree to set up a picnic lunch. Dining in the middle of nowhere with nobody to disturb you except for the noises of animals nearby also enjoying their lunch is an experience one cannot easily forget.
Visit an African success story
The black rhino is one of the most scarce, endangered and elusive beasts of the Bush, making a sighting a particularly special occasion. We have teamed up with Tanapa (Tanzania National Parks) rangers to offer guests staying at both our Roving Bushtops locations a two-hour, up-close stay with one or more black rhinos, viewed in their natural habitat.
This privileged access is only possible thanks to far-sighted wildlife management having saved a species from extinction. By 1993 a mere three black rhinos occupied the Moru Kopjes area of the Serengeti National Park – down dramatically from 700 some 20 years earlier. In 1995 the Serengeti Rhino Project was launched, with the Michael Grzimek Memorial Rhino Post established to coordinate both rhino tracking and protection from poachers.
In September 2019, Tanzania introduced nine new rhinos to boost the breeding programme and encourage genetic diversity. Rangers now patrol 3500 square kilometres within which every one of the 50+ black rhinos has been born in the wild. It takes around one hour to reach the black rhinos from either Roving Bushtops location and costs 130 US Dollars per person (aged at least 5). On arrival we hand you over to our Tanapa ranger friends who promise a truly moving experience in the company of such iconic animals. Do let us know in advance if you are interested, then prepare for a guaranteed sighting. Our second guarantee is that you’ll never forget it!
