Lake Natron Camp

Paradise Taveuni, formerly known as Susie’s Plantation Resort, is just north of Vuna Point at the southern end of Taveuni, one of the island’s most beautiful areas.  Set on an elevated piece of land, the newly transformed Paradise offers impressive sea and sunset views and plenty of strategically placed hammocks and sun lounges from which to enjoy them.  The bures and vales are an incredible way to experience Fiji.  The staff will give you a wonderful glimpse into the local Fijian culture and mystique of the islands.

With the completion of the new oceanfront air-conditioned Vales, Paradise now offers 14 accommodation choices.  These include the 5 deluxe oceanfront bures and 2 deluxe oceanfront vales both with outdoor showers in a private tropical garden. There are also 2 oceanfront family bures and 5 oceanview bures both with outdoor showers in a private tropical garden. The accommodations offer you a private bedroom with a generous king bed and swinging French doors, opening to your sundeck with a Fijian Day Bed, perfect for reading a book or relaxing in the sun. The spacious lounge room has a mini bar, refrigerator, tea and coffee making facilities, as well as comfortable lounge furniture. The modern bathroom is tropically designed with an inside bath and shower, bath products, hair dryer, cupboards and an electronic safe. The outdoor shower and Jacuzzi in the private lush garden is a Fijian standard here in Paradise.  All Bures are fan cooled and offer air conditioning.

The Main Bure features a restaurant, bar, gift shop, tour desk and a new private air conditioned Library with complimentary internet. Other dining options include the wood fired pizza oven the ocean Bure and casual fare at the poolside Bure. Allan Gortan, owner and Internationally trained Chef, oversees the Paradise Kitchen and uses the local, organic produce straight from the Paradise Farm on site.

With Rainbow Reef and Vuna Reef just a short boat ride away, Paradise Taveuni offers you some of the best diving in the world. Fiji, known for being the soft coral capital of the world, will give you some of the most memorable dives of your life exploring astounding soft corals and diverse marine life, all on the world-famous Somosomo Strait.  With over 40 sites on hand, Paradise offers divers like The Great White Wall, Orgasm, The Zoo and many more dive sites that you will reminisce on for the rest of your life.

Of course, you may choose to snorkel, kayak or do some stand up paddle boarding here too. The resort organizes horseback riding trips, whale watching and fishing expeditions. Much of Taveuni’s coastline is rugged and set against some of Fiji’s highest peaks. Des Voeux Peak reaches up 1195m and the cloud shrouded Mt Uluiqalau, at 1241m, is country’s second highest summit, offering some of the best views in Fiji and making Taveuni a great hiking destination. You may visit Vuna village where the local people live in the traditional Fijian community and prepare and produce tapa (bark cloth) and woven mats. The women prepare the pandanus leaves by boiling them, stripping them with shells to remove thorny edges, then drying the leaves in racks for days until they are dry enough to weave into beautifully handcrafted mats. Learn how the village women use bark from the paper mulberry tree to make tapa. You can buy an authentic tapa or woven mat from the ladies to help the local community. When it’s time to relax, chill at the resort’s pool or pamper yourself with a traditional Fijian spa treatment.
