Mara Siana

Located in Kenya’s Ripoi Conservancy, Mara Siana is a small upscale safari camp in a stunning undiscovered area just outside Masai Mara National Reserve. Game viewing is exceptional in and around the camp. The 13,500-acre conservancy features the “Big Seven” of East African wildlife — elephants, lions, leopards, rhino, buffalo, cheetahs and African wild dogs. In addition to morning and late afternoon game drives, Mara Siana offers guided bush walks through a landscape dappled in savannah, woodland, and grassy plains. And unlike the national reserve where night drives are forbidden, guests can venture out after dark when many of the Mara’s animals are most active. Meanwhile, the camp is well positioned for viewing the Great Migration when it swings through the region in July and August.

The camp is 50% Masai and 50% female owned. Among its directors are some of Kenya’s safari stars. Ranked as one of Africa’s top 15 guides by Conde Nast Traveler and co-star of the TV series Big Cat Tales, Jackson Looseyia was born and raised in the heart of the Masai Mara.

One of Kenya’s most experienced guides, Fred Ronko is a safari fundi who has guided in Mara for over 20 years. With a love for mature that started during his youth, Salaash Morompi loves guiding and sharing the incredible diversity of wildlife of the Masai Mara.

The luxury wildlife tents offer you modern comforts while bringing you closer to nature. The camp offers eight tents total. Two family tents composed of two bedrooms and two ensuite bathrooms and six standard tents composed of one king or two single beds and ensuite bathrooms.

GAME DRIVES

Mara Siana offers two daily game drives (morning & afternoon) in the wildlife-rich Mara Ripoi Conservancy, with flexible timing based on wildlife activity and guest preferences. Night drives are also available. Game drives in Maasai Mara National Reserve can be arranged, but park fees are not included in the camp rate.

WALKING SAFARI

Guided walking safaris offer a closer look at the smaller wonders of the African bush. Lasting 30 minutes to a few hours, they are led by a wildlife guide and an armed ranger, ensuring safety while exploring on foot.

BALLOON SAFARIS

Experience the Mara from above with a breathtaking hot-air balloon safari. Departing early, guests watch the balloon inflate before soaring over the landscape for 45-60 minutes. After landing, enjoy a champagne breakfast in the bush before returning to camp.

VILLAGE VISITS

Explore authentic Maasai culture by visiting real villages, not tourist sites. Learn about daily life, traditions, and community roles with your guide as an interpreter. Visits take 30 minutes to a few hours, often before an afternoon game drive.

FAMILY ACTIVITIES

Kids at Mara Siana can enjoy spear throwing, archery, wildlife tracking, family game drives, and walking safaris. They can visit local schools, herd with Maasai children, count wildlife, do arts and crafts, and bake goodies with the chef!
