Lamai Private

Lamai Serengeti’s little sister, Lamai Private, is exclusively for private groups.  Strung around the bottom of our boulder-bound Serengeti base, this camp communes completely privately with the bristling plains of the north - annual site of the Migration crossings of the Mara River, gateway to the Lamai Wedge and a year-round arena of spectacular resident big game - right here, on our doorstep.  

Cottages (5 rooms)
Each of the rooms is designed to fit into the complex geometry of the kopje and to make the most of this sensational location, its views and its natural space and light.  The rooms are a blend of canvas, plaster and natural poles with a large verandah for relaxing and watching the antics of the rock hyrax.

Game Viewing
The game at Lamai is remarkable, not least because there is so much to see all year long - lion, leopard, hyena, cheetah and herbivores. But fine game viewing is not only what you see, but how you see it, so we provide exclusive use of vehicles for your group, with highly trained, wildlife fanatics - Nomad Guides.

The Crossings
It’s hard to imagine a more thrilling group activity than watching streams of grass-obsessed wildebeest crossing a river full of hungry crocodiles. For a couple of months, when the Migration thunders across these northern plains, that’s exactly what we do, with the infamous Mara River just a short 4x4 drive away.

Bush Walks
Here at Nomad we like to strip away the safari trappings sometimes, so you can really know Africa. It’s only when you’re walking in the Serengeti that you get a sense of quite how small a person can feel on these plains.  And only when you reach the top of that kopje, that you get that Simba feeling.

Back at Base
Half fabulous bush camp, half homely HQ, this is where your group can get together as one around communal tables or the pool, or disappear off for some nature communing, wildlife photography or bird watching around the kopje.  Plenty of personal space here, on spreading timber decks under giant Serengeti skies.
