Fire Station Tour
Between Rocafuerte and Montufar streets is the second station of the Quito Fire Department. The "Coronel Ángel Jarrín" station is always ready to serve the Quito community in the Historic Center.
Isidoro Villareal, the treasurer of the King of Spain, lived in this former house during the colonial era. It belonged to the Serrano Villareal family until the beginning of the 20th century. It is said that Isidoro Villareal buried the King's money and gold within its walls.
Library of Santo Domingo
In the convent where the "San Fernando" school was founded, the Fray Pedro Bedón Museum carefully houses several treasures from the Dominican era, a legacy of more than 30,000 books from the old collection. These include various subjects in philosophy, theology, social sciences, architecture, and medicine.
Chapel of Miracles
Located between Rocafuerte and Fernández Madrid streets, this is a hidden gem in the Mama Cuchara neighborhood. It's a chapel dating back to 1680 in honor of the Lord of Miracles.
It was erected by the parishioners of Loma Grande and Loma Chica in gratitude for the many miracles performed, based on an ancient legend of the area's residents.
Magical Masks
Discover the magic of the people who live and work in our neighborhood. El Caretero has been making beautiful handmade masks from paper and cardboard for over two decades. These masks are representations of Ecuadorian folk culture.
Marble Factory
Located on La Loma Grande, a few steps from the arch of Santo Domingo Church, the Tomebamba Marble Factory was established approximately 80 years ago. Its first owners were the masters who migrated from Cañar to Quito to work in the fine art of creating the cool Italian marble pieces that can still be seen in Quito's cemeteries and churches.
