As one of the most remote and private island resorts in Australia, Haggerstone offers an unparalleled adventure experience individually tailored to every guest. Custodians Roy and Anna Turner have put thirty years of their lives into extending the beauty of the island with everything they have created. Individually designed lodges blend seamlessly along the island foreshore; each private villa with its own pristine beachfront and sea view. The main building captures the imagination; heavy beams, high thatched roof, light flickering from the cooking fire. At the ocean, a thatched jetty hovers over a lagoon that vibrates with fish life.
Every day a new adventure awaits, with tailored excursions allowing guests to experience activities such as fishing, snorkeling and beach combing to name but a few.

Lagoon Hut
Lagoon hut is located toward the North East side of the island a stone throw from the waters edge with views overlooking our Big Lagoon and Coral Sea. An open plan handcrafted timber pole hut, raised above ground level so as to afford spectacular ocean views across the reef. Polished floors and glass doors, timber shutters open on all sides to allow a cool sea breeze. Due to fortunate erosion the hut has, over the years, edged closer and closer to the waters edge and now sits only a few meters from the gently lapping waves at high tide. Queen bed or 2 twins, kitchen and ensuite.

Spread sparingly along the islands long beach, our 5 beach front villa’s offer absolute privacy and stunning ocean views. Embracing Papua New Guinea / African design, each generous, open-plan villa features a private deck, tropical garden, offering first row seats of the best entertainment - nature itself. Snorkeling
The Reef in our area is utterly untouched and demonstrates what coral and fish life used to be before human interference. Float over florescent gardens, or plunge into the cavernous formations created by centuries of uninterrupted growth. Expect to see Green Turtles, Manta Rays and prolific fish life during your stay. Every day out on the boat we visit a different destination and often will not repeat the same location within a month or even a year. Some of our favourite snorkeling locations we have named:
The Garden - A shallow and brillianlty colored, vivid colored staghorn, plate, boulder and fan corals.
Ashmore Banks - A beautiful sand cay with an incredibly clear fringing reef and deep drop-off, Maori Wrasse, huge Brain Coral formations and the possibilities of Manta Rays, Crayfish and even Dolphins.
The Outer Barrier Wishbone Reef - On calm days we venture out the the incredible outer reef formation located due east of the island. Expect to see every imaginable form of marine life in its most impressive condition.
Fishing
With knowledge of the area built from thirty years of experience we have the pleasure of guaranteeing an unparalleled fishing experience. Although we rely on our freshly caught seafood for meals we still maintain a high catch and release ration for the fish we don’t need. Some examples of the common species caught are Red Emperor, Coral Trout, Finger mark, Spanish Mackerel, Bluefin Tuna, Queen fish, Dog tooth Tuna and Giant Trevally.
Kiteboarding
Haggerstone Island is the only resort on the Great Barrier Reef to formally offer Kiteboarding as an activity. We welcome guests of all experience levels to enjoy our perfect location and consistent trade winds.
Helicopter Adventures
For those who want the ultimate adventure experience, we recommend the use of our chartered helicopter service to visit private waterfalls, sand-cays, fish untouched river systems or enjoy a sunset champagne atop mountainous sand dunes.
JETSKIING, WAKEBOARDING, WALKING TRACKS AND RELAXATION - Spend an afternoon with Aperol Spritz in hand watching Fish and Turtles pass lazily under the jetty, or take a lap around the island on our Jetski? Why not both? We have equipment available for most watersports including wakeboarding, waterskiing, kayaking, canoeing and beach fishing.
