Villa des Orangers
Angama Safari Camp is a light-footprint sole-use tented camp, accommodating up to eight guests in four lovely ensuite tents sited deep in the Maasai Mara year-round. This unique camp captures the romance and adventure of the glorious Golden Age of safaris, yet with a lightness of spirit that will both surprise and delight guests.
Surrounded by the mega herds during the Migration season and abundant resident wildlife throughout the year, Angama Safari Camp embraces a fresh and uncluttered approach to mobile safari camp design, the tents have been turned to landscape orientation to maximise the light and views across the plains. The interiors echo the fresh approach to design of its sister camp, Angama Mara.
With a dedicated safari vehicle and guide, safaris can start at sunrise and end after sunset, arriving back at the private safari camp where the team are waiting to take care of each guest with gentle and warm Kenyan service.
Safari Tent
With a fresh, playful and uncluttered approach, the ensuite guest tents have been designed for landscape orientation in order to maximise the light and views across the plains. Each features an extra-length king bed, writing desk, dressing room, vanity, separate w/c, and the playful addition of double bucket showers. Interiors echo the much-loved elements from Angama Mara: red Fermob rocking chairs and furniture by master-weaver John Vogel - with the very best of everything but always just the right amount of everything. Children of all ages are welcome, but regrettably Angama Safari Camp is unable to accommodation triples in the guest tents.
Safari drives
Extraordinary wildlife experiences right on your doorstep with the Maasai Mara yours to explore. The area has abundant resident wildlife - prides of lion, cheetah, leopard, large elephant herds, buffalo and plenty of plains game. During the Migration season, the camp is right in heart of the action surrounded by the mega herds.
Hot-air balloon safaris
Not far from the Angama Safari Camp site, guests can float away on a hot-air balloon safari, enjoying the landscapes of the Mara and its resident wildlife from the sky.
Walking Safaris – The Great Rift on foot
With access to over 2,000 hectares of wilderness along the escarpment, guests can embark on walking safaris as long or as short as one desires. Walks are escorted by Maasai naturalists, and offer prolific birding, sightings of the rare oribi antelope, breathtaking views along the Rift Valley and across the Mara below, and opportunities to learn more about Maasai traditions
Visit Angama Mara
Angama Mara is easily accessible - about a two-hour safari away. Guests staying at Angama Safari Camp are welcome to visit Angama Mara and enjoy all the experiences on offer, including lunch in the Shamba or on the Guest Area deck, picnics on the Out of Africa kopje, visits to the Safari Shop and Beading Studio, or an afternoon at the swimming pool, making use of the fitness room.
