Andean Explorer, South America’s first luxury sleeper service, offers a choice of one- or two-night journeys. From Cusco, the ancient capital of the Inca Empire, traverse the highest plains of the Andes before arriving at the reflective beauty of Lake Titicaca. Continue towards the city of Arequipa, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Snaking its way through the Andes, there’s no mistaking this midnight blue voyager. A hand-painted ivory exterior hints at the craftsmanship inside: fabulous timber finishes, linen-covered walls, leather seating and bathrooms fashioned from local stone. A fitting echo to the soothing landscape, Andean Explorer is the ultimate base from which to uncover Peru.

Take a seat for a world-class feast in the train’s two beautiful dining carriages—Llama and Muña. Bright and elegant, each atmospheric space is the perfect setting for gastronomic discovery.

In contrast to the striking landscape that glides past, each twin or double cabin offers a soothing blend of signature Peruvian accents and in-built oxygen for additional comfort at high altitudes. Hand-woven fabrics and soft, Alpaca-style textures invite a leisurely rest. An en suite bathroom and shower permit luxurious bathing––even at 4,000ft.

TWIN BED CABINS

Unwind in these spacious cabins. Admire passing scenery, or freshen up in your en suite bathroom. During the day, these 7.4m2 cabins are configured with a long banquette and comfy seats. Stewards convert this into two ground-level single beds come nightfall.

SUITE CABINS

These cabins feature a plush double bed and cozy seating area with two chairs and a table––perfect for journaling your highlights. Fitted with a compact wardrobe, en suite with shower, washbasin and WC, this 13.1m2 space is an elegant onboard retreat.

BUNK BED CABINS

These cozy cabins offer the most authentic sleeper train experience. After a day’s activities, freshen up in a private en suite. Each 5.5m2 cabin features a long banquette that transforms into comfortable upper and lower single berths.

CUSCO – PUNO – AREQUIPA

Embark on the ultimate Peruvian escape and journey from Cusco to Arequipa in style, visiting charming Puno and the majestic Lake Titicaca. Tours each day let uncover the hidden gems of this fascinating land. The Peruvian Highlands journey departs every Thursday morning.

Day 01 - Depart Cusco

Board the Andean Explorer in Cusco, the ancient capital of the Inca Empire. Get comfortable and relax in your deluxe cabin as the train begins its journey southeast to Puno. Savor your first lunch on board in the elegant dining car. Take in the stunning La Raya mountain range at one of the stops. After a sumptuous dinner, head to the bar car lounge to chat with fellow travelers as the train continues its journey to Lake Titicaca where it will stop for the night.

Day 02 - Puno

Awake early to catch the sunrise over Lake Titicaca before breakfast on board. Today’s journey explores the eclectic beauty of South America’s largest lake. Take a traditional boat ride to the islands of Uros, extraordinary artificial islands created from woven reeds. Enjoy lunch at the Puno Muelle hangar and then depart to Saracocha lagoon. On the way, enjoy cocktails and canapés on board. Arrive in Saracocha where we will spend the night and enjoy a wonderful dinner.

Day 03 -  Arequipa

Watch the sunrise surrounded by the scenery of Lake Lagunillas and breakfast. Later visit Sumbay caves, home to 8000 year old cave paintings. Return to the train for lunch and the journey to Arequipa. Disembark for a city tour or ride to the airport.
