Each guest will be privately guided in their own vehicle so you can safari your way. The Soutpansberg Mountains, a stunning extension of the Drakensberg range, offer a unique wildlife experience due to their diverse habitats and climates. This rugged region, rich in biodiversity, boasts a variety of ecosystems ranging from arid savannahs to lush subtropical forests. On a safari game drive here, you might encounter the elusive leopard, which thrives in the dense bushveld, as well as herds of impala and kudu grazing in the open areas. The Soutpansberg is also a haven for bird enthusiasts, with species such as the black-faced waxbill and the striking African hawk-eagle adding vibrant splashes of color and activity to the landscape.

In addition to these charismatic megafauna and avian delights, the Soutpansberg Mountains are home to a wealth of smaller creatures and plant life. You could spot a variety of antelope, like the nyala and the waterbuck, while the underbrush teems with smaller mammals like the bushbaby and the African wildcat. The diverse flora supports an intricate web of life, with medicinal plants and ancient cycads adding to the region’s ecological complexity. Whether traversing the mountainous terrain or exploring the lower slopes, a game drive in this region offers an immersive glimpse into the rich tapestry of life that thrives in one of South Africa’s most captivating natural landscapes.

Family Safari Activities
The lodge offers a variety of safari activities that cater to families. The Young Explorers program engages children with interactive learning about wildlife and conservation through guided nature walks, educational games, and wildlife tracking. For game drives, families benefit from private safari vehicles and guides, allowing a customized experience suited to the interests and needs of all family members. Private guides ensure that safaris are tailored to the family's pace and focus on wildlife that excites the children. From clay modeling, to snake handling, geocaching and more there will be something for everyone to enjoy.

Monkey Business
Characterized by their long tails, expressive faces, and agile movements, these monkeys are a delight to observe. They thrive in dense canopies, where they leap between trees and live in social groups. Their vibrant behavior and adaptability make them a fascinating subject of study and a highlight for visitors exploring the rich biodiversity of the Soutpansberg mountains. Head out on an adventure to a different part of our reserve to observe these unique primates. These lively and acrobatic monkeys are a joy to observe. Your guide navigates the dense foliage to a prime viewing spot, where you can watch the monkeys interact and leap between trees. The guide provides insights into their social structure and the challenges they face.

Stargazing + Bush Dinners
Stargazing in the bush is a transcendent experience reveals the vast beauty of the night sky in one of Africa's most remote and pristine settings. Far from city lights, the darkness envelops visitors, allowing the stars to shine with unparalleled brilliance. Against the backdrop of the African bushveld, constellations and planets become vividly clear, offering a celestial display that has inspired wonder and storytelling for centuries. Whether from your Cliff Suite or our cozy camp out, lying beneath this cosmic canopy evokes a profound sense of connection to the universe and a peaceful serenity that is both humbling and awe-inspiring.

Bush dinners are a magical affair that blends adventure with culinary delight. Picture dining under the open sky, surrounded by the sights and sounds of the untamed wilderness. As the sun sets, creating a canvas of vibrant colors, guests gather around a beautifully set table adorned with local décor and lit by lanterns or softly glowing torches. The air is filled with the aroma of dishes prepared by our chef, showcasing the flavors of the region. Often, the experience is accompanied by the distant calls of wildlife, adding a thrilling sense of proximity to nature.
