Nanyukie Lodge

Meaning ‘endless plains’ in the Maasai language, the Serengeti is undoubtedly one of the world's most celebrated wilderness areas. Lemala Nanyukie is located a 45-minute drive east of the Seronera Airstrip in the park’s central region, and is superbly located with outstanding views across these fascinating ‘endless plains’. The lodge itself sits on a grassy savanna dotted with rocky kopjes and shaded by ancient giant acacia trees. This area of the Serengeti is crossed by the thrilling wildlife spectacle of the annual wildebeest migration, but also has high-density game-viewing at all times and is well-known for its large concentration of cats. As such Lemala Nanyukie will be open year-round, and safari activities like game drives and walks will be accompanied by Lemala’s highly-knowledgeable and experienced guides.

With canvas walls, cathedral-like tented ceilings and broad hardwood decks, guests at Lemala Nanyukie can expect a light contemporary décor in a palette of dazzling whites and neutral colors, with warmth introduced by textured accessories, luxurious upholstery, wooden furnishings, and well-executed lighting.

The 15 luxurious guest suites (13 standard suites + 1 x 2 bedroomed suite) are spaced well apart for maximum privacy. Triples are available on request, and the two-bedroom suite is perfect for families or friends. Features include an oversized bed, spacious lounge, and generous bathroom with double vanity, indoor and outdoor showers and free-standing bathtub.

The delightful wooden deck has sunken seating, outdoor shower and stunning corner plunge pool with views directly across the Serengeti’s magnificent grasslands. The main double-volume area features a comfortable lounge and bar, outdoor viewing deck leading to a refreshing swimming pool, and indoor and outdoor dining areas. Additionally Lemala will arrange special meals like bush breakfasts and lantern-lit dinners, and the campfire is perfect for a post-dinner drink and share tales about the day on safari. A separate spa tent among the trees offers secluded relaxation. (Lemala)

Balloon Safaris

A balloon safari offers an opportunity to see the wildlife areas from a unique perspective. Take in the wilderness below as you silently float over the vast plains (in whichever direction the wind takes you). Follow a large herd of wildebeest, see a lion stalk its prey or just marvel at the magnificent scenery before touching down for a bush breakfast like no other. If you only take one balloon flight in your life, this is the place to do it.

Outside Dining

No safari is complete without experiencing a traditional outdoor, open-air lunch or dinner. Relax under the natural canopy of an acacia tree, while your personal butler serves up a feast. Nothing is quite so essentially safari as this. White linen, fine bone china and crystal glassware create a real "Out of Africa" experience - both daytime and night.

Sundowners

Sundowners are more than just a happy hour. They are a very cherished African tradition and form an integral part of your safari experience. It is a time to relax, reminisce the day gone by, enjoy a cocktail or glass of wine around the camp fire with fellow travelers, and watch as the sun goes down over the Serengeti plains.

Lemala Cubs Kids Activities

Tanzania has great appeal for families. Seeing animals is very exciting for children, and nothing can prepare a parent for the delight of watching their child’s reaction when they catch sight of a lion, giraffe or elephant for the very first time. Lemala Cubs offers our special guests under the age of 12, a range of wonderful opportunities to experience and enjoy the magic of the African bush. These activities are fun, educational and interesting, showing future generations the need for conservation of Africa’s wildlife, and keep kids well entertained while mum and dad relax.
