Day 1 ARRIVE BRAZZAVILLE
Brazzaville, the capital city of the Republic of Congo, is situated in the banks of the mighty Congo River. This city holds the opportunity for superbly interesting city tours to take in the Poto Poto market (known for amazing textiles), visiting areas of local and historical interest, eating in some fun and quirky restaurants and if time allows to meet up with the Sapeurs or La Sape, a slang abbreviation based on the French word sape, meaning ‘attire’. Days 2-5 ODZALA-KOKOUA NATIONAL PARK
Kamba - Ngaga
4 NIGHTS
Ngaga is located in the Ndzehi Forest on the western boundary of Odzala-Kokoua National Park, and situated right next to the gorilla research center pioneering Western Lowland Gorilla research. Guests can have dinner with the team and leading researchers and learn more about their work in the Odzala-Kokoua National Park which is home to the highest density of Western Lowland Gorillas. Explore the Ndzehi Forest on a network of well-maintained trails – a very different experience to the swampy terrain at Lango.
* Kamba scheduled charter flight departs every Monday and Thursday at 1pm from Maya Maya International Airport for a direct flight (2 hours) to Odzala-Kokoua National Park.
* On arrival at the airstrip in Odzala-Kokoua National Park you are welcomed by the Kamba team and the adventure begins with a safari drive (2 hours) through the park, via Mbomo Village, to Ngaga.
* Ngaga - This first evening includes a conservation and gorilla briefing by the research team based at Ngaga.
Days 5-9 ODZALA-KOKOUA NATIONAL PARK
Kamba - Lango
4 NIGHTS
Lango is in the south-central part of the Odzala-Kokoua National Park, allowing easy access to a variety of habitats. Most of the activities focus on the Lango Baï, and swamps by walking or wading. Some driving may be required to get to more remote spots. Here the adventure continues on foot in search of various primates, birds, forest elephants, bongo and forest buffalo. The mineral-rich Lango Baï attracts a variety of birds and mammals, easily viewed from the open deck.
* Safari transfer (2 hours) through the Mbomo Village and the Odzala-Kokoua National Park to Mboko. Freshen up and have lunch.
* This is one of the best camp arrivals in Africa. From Mboko you start with a safari kayak down the Lekoli River. Encounter chimps, monkeys, elephants and buffalo along the river edge as you drift past.
* At the entrance to Lango Baï the kayaks are pulled up on the river bank and a wonderful walk of 3kms begins. Watch flocks of green pigeons coming to roost, forest buffalo grazing and if you are lucky encounter and bongo or forest elephant as you wade through the water up the baï.
* Arrive in time for sundowners at Lango and watch the setting sun.
Your bags are brought to camp via a road transfer.
Days 9-12 ODZALA-KOKOUA NATIONAL PARK
Kamba - Mboko
3 NIGHT
Mboko is located inside the Odzala-Kokoua National Park. This is the base camp of Kamba and the largest of the 3 camps. It is set along the Likeni River which leads into a network of waterways with surrounding savannah to be explored. River safari in aluminium boats or on kayaks are a great way to explore the wilderness and find unique wildlife species in their secluded habitats.
* Early morning game drive transfer from Mboko to the airstrip.
* Kamba scheduled charter flight departs every Monday and Thursday at 9am from Odzala-Kokoua National Park for a direct flight (2 hours) to Maya Maya International Airport.
* Depart from Maya Maya International Airport for your onward flight home.
